Beautiful Creatures, the beloved South African children’s brand, is celebrating its 20th anniversary with an exciting partnership with Gallo Record Company, a division of The Music Arena. In honor of this milestone and to celebrate Heritage Month, Gallo Record Company will re-release all eight of Beautiful Creatures' acclaimed albums on the 20th of September 2024.

Founded in 2004 by Alan Glass, Ed Jordan, and Paul Choritz, Beautiful Creatures has captivated audiences with its parent-friendly children’s music that is uniquely South African yet has global appeal. Their albums have achieved platinum and gold status in South Africa, with over 300,000 copies sold across their catalogue.

In 2009, Beautiful Creatures expanded its reach with the release of its first book, Mafutha the Elephant, followed by Imvubu the Happiest Hippo, Lucas the Lazy Lion, Harry the Hungry Hadeda, and Underwater Zoo.

The brand's foray into live theatre began in 2010 when Beautiful Creatures teamed up with renowned producers Hazel and Tony Feldman of Showtime Management, known for their Broadway smash hits such as Chicago, Mamma Mia, and Beauty and The Beast. The result was Beautiful Creatures: The Musical, a 50-minute musical experience that delighted audiences at the Teatro at Montecasino, selling over 18,000 tickets. The production earned a Naledi Award for Best Children’s Production of 2010.

Building on this success, Beautiful Creatures The Musical was reworked in 2011 into a touring show with a cast of seven actors. The show enjoyed a highly successful run at the Pieter Toerien Montecasino Theatre, performing 39 shows, including 24 sell-out performances, and selling 12,486 tickets over three weeks.

Since their inception, Beautiful Creatures has released seven albums, achieving multi-platinum and gold sales in South Africa, and four children’s books, with a fifth, Underwater Zoo, released in 2017. The brand has also expanded into educational toys and received two South African Music Award nominations.
