Renowned gospel artist Solomon Molokoane, widely known as Solly Moholo, has passed away. His management announced the sad news on Wednesday through an official statement on behalf of the Molokoane family.

“It is with deep sorrow that we share the news of our beloved legend, Solly Moholo’s passing,” the statement read. “He departed on October 2, 2024, while receiving medical care in the hospital after falling ill following his recent pre-album launch tour in Botswana.”

The statement emphasized the profound loss felt by the family and fans: “Solly will be deeply missed. May his joyous spirit resonate in the heavens. We invite everyone to cherish the healing music he gifted us over the years. During this difficult time, the family requests privacy to grieve and prepare for his burial.”

In August, his management had indicated that he would soon undergo surgery, following earlier reports of his improving health. “Currently, Solly Moholo is in the intensive care unit, as doctors have advised a necessary brain operation,” they disclosed.

Moholo's health declined during his time in Botswana, where he received warm support from local fans. Unfortunately, he fell ill on his way back to the hotel after performances.

In April, it was reported that Moholo and a group of musicians had disappointed fans by failing to appear at a scheduled performance in Limpopo over the Easter weekend. They had been booked by businessman Jeffrey Malatji to perform at Ejays Lounge in Moime village, but left their audience waiting without an explanation.

Later, Moholo expressed his regret for missing the event, assuring fans that he would return to the venue later this year.
