The talented performer, celebrated for his roles in productions such as “Nna Sajene Kokobela,” “The Republic,” “The Estate,” “Blood Psalms,” and “The Wife,” passed away on Sunday, September 15.A funeral service will be held at St. Hubert's Catholic Church in Alexandra, followed by his burial at West Park Cemetery. Motloung will be remembered for his remarkable talent, deep passion, and steadfast commitment to his craft. His final on-screen appearance was in “uBab’Stivovo” on Mzansi Magic, where he portrayed the character Bra Tyd.According to a family spokesperson who spoke with IOL, the actor had expressed a desire for no memorial service. Instead, close friends and family will gather at his home in Kempton Park to bid their farewells prior to the Requiem Mass in Alexandra.Reports indicate that Motloung collapsed and subsequently passed away in the hospital. His casting agency, Artist Connection, released a statement announcing his sudden death: “We are heartbroken to share the news of Ntate Sello Motloung’s passing on Sunday, September 15. His family is in profound shock, and we ask for privacy during this difficult time. Sello will always be remembered as a legend, and he will be deeply missed.”Motloung’s death comes at a time when the South African community is still mourning the loss of fellow actor Darlington Michaels, known as Teboho Ndarana.
