Soul Brothers claimed the Best Traditional Music Album award for their latest release, Hamba Naye, a vibrant collection that continues to honour mbaqanga's heritage. Led by the legendary Black Moses Ngwenya, the last remaining founding member, the album seamlessly merges their classic sound with fresh rhythms. Ngwenya reflects, “Hamba Naye mirrors our journey and honours our original members. This award is dedicated to them and our fans.”
Meanwhile, Ladysmith Black Mambazo took home the Best African Indigenous Faith Music Traditional Album award for Soothe My Soul – Songs from Our South African Church. With their six-decade legacy, the group remains a pillar of faith-based music, blending traditional hymns with original compositions inspired by South African spirituality. Member Sbongiseni Shabalala shared, “This album was created to bring comfort and healing; our songs continue to cross borders and bring joy.”
