South African rising artist Gee 4 Rest is set to energize the music scene with his latest single “Fakimali,” a vibrant collaboration featuring Lady Du, Broma, T-Man SA, Nichokid and Spination RSA.

Speaking about the inspiration behind the single, Gee 4 Rest shared that the creative process came with its own challenges.

“‘Fakimali’ is all about embracing the grind and bringing that energy to the dancefloor. I had to push through some creative blocks during the process but working with Lady Du took the vibe to another level. She’s a legend, and I’m honoured to share this track with her.”

The artist explains that the message behind the track also reflects everyday social experiences and the importance of independence.

“One thing I always say is that when you meet people or go out, you must always have something for yourself. Don’t go around begging drinks or depending on others. The song is about confidence, independence, and enjoying the moment.”

The journey of creating “Fakimali” also involved challenges during production, including finding a producer whose schedule aligned with the project.

“It was difficult finding a producer because everyone was busy, but we made it possible for them to be part of the journey,” he explains.

“When you go to the club, it’s about the vibe and the experience. It’s not about going there to find someone to build a future with — it’s about enjoying the music and living in the moment.”
