Veteran actor Patrick Ndlovu has died.

The Yizo Yizo and Zone 14 star died of natural causes on Tuesday the May 30, as confirmed by his agency.

Patrick is survived by his wife, Kellina Sonto Ndlovu and his daughter, Nomvuyo Ndlovu as well as two daughters from his previous relationships.

Ndlovu's succesful career as an actor and entertainer spans more than four decades.

He was best known for his role as Sizwe Moloi in the SABC1 drama series Zone 14 and as school principal, Mr Thembu, in the popular TV series Yizo Yizo.

A recent stint on etv's Durban Gen saw him get dubbed as the meme king after images of his character were shared online. 

Relebogile Mabotja, who worked with Ndlovu on Zone 14, said that he was a tough and kind person on set that demanded high standards of everyone.

“And he was so strict with us young actors, he would continuously find us in the green room or make up room and he would be asking like 'hey, do you know your lines for this scene?', you know.”

Veteran actress Nambitha Mpulwana said that it was an honour to call Ndlovu a colleague and a friend.

Twitter was abuzz with tributes from fans and fellow actors singing his praises and remembering te great times and scenes that he gave South Africans.
